Thank you for supporting Friends of Marlene!
|Everyone who knew Marlene knew just what type of a person she was. In addition to being a legendary figure of the meetings and association community, Marlene had a gentle personality, a huge heart and a passion for her life and work.
What many did not know about Marlene is just how hard she fought in her battle against breast cancer. She stayed positive through her entire diagnosis and was inspired to fight until the very end. Sadly, we lost our dear friend in May 2010.
To honor and celebrate her life, the Friends of Marlene Hetzel Palmerson have created a fund within the Maggie Daley Center for Women’s Cancer Care at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Located on the 4th and 5th floors of Prentice Women's Hospital, the center is part of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University, a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center. The center is the first of its kind for women with cancer, addressing and centralizing supportive services for the emotional, aesthetic and physical needs of women in treatment.

Team Marlene Cheer for Cancer Survivors
Hearty in heart, although a bit cold - Team Marlene volunteers cheered for participants at the Lurie Cancer Survivors Walk on May 31. The Walk raised $226,000 with 4,000 particpants supporting the Lurie Cancer Center.
We recognize and thank those who have supported the Friends of Marlene annually since we began in 2010. Thank you!
